Manassas, VA Book Reading Barnes&Noble

Thank you Barnes&Noble Team

Manassas Barnes&Noble Book Reading and Signing on June 15th went well. I fielded a few more Q&A questions. A participant asked me how Alaysia differed from C.S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I told him Alaysia was not a biblical allegory. It is a fun fantasy story.

Forbidden and Alaysia Reviews

Please email me your thoughts and feedback. This is the Miami Barnes&Noble.

--Alaysia is an epic adventure. I really liked that this book was written with multiple different perspectives. Kriya and Liam were both particularly interesting characters to follow on this journey. I was stunned constantly during the beginning of this book, as all of my expectations were blown away (Courtesy of USA Book Reviewers)

---I like that Alaysia feels both like urban fantasy in that half the cast is from earth living normal earth lives until the start of the story, but Alaysia itself reminds me more of an epic fantasy adventure, my favorite thing to read. This book starts off with intrigue and mystery, and it only builds. It is a super fun and exciting adventure that was a blast to read. (Courtesy of USA Book Reviewers).

--Alaysia is a quick and enjoyable read. It follows the story of Kriya as she learns of new worlds and her destiny among them. Alaysia is an enchanting world full of unheard animals and creatures. Alaysia is a fun beach read and a great YA novel. I was hooked after Chapter 1 and couldn't wait to find out how the story finally ended. I am hoping Patel will consider continuing Kriya's adventure in a follow-up novel!--Sabrina Jaffe, attorney in NYC

Forbidden (poetry) Reviews:

I do not have formal reviews at this time, however many of my closest friends and colleagues loved it.

--Frank Samolis an attorney in DC, has stated that "I loved the poems! Shraddha is a very sensitive soul."

--Mangla Patel, "I really liked Shraddha's poems, but I couldn't put down Alaysia until I got to the end of it."

EclIPSE Poem

This is a poem I wrote while viewing the solar eclipse

A Sample poem called "Eclipse" from my book Forbidden:

We did not look up but looked down...

Even trees' leaves were half-moons

Like the sun on the paper.

As time began to shadow all that was said and done,

So too slowly the future began to run,

And the leaves' shadows were crescents,

Reminding us that everything was almost won,

As the moon now blocked in totality the sun.

Until the storm and rain pulled over

That which was now already said and begun.

Meridian Blue

This is a poem I wrote recently after our trip to Miami in July. Sadly I was not on that boat...just taking pictures from the beach.

The wind knew little

or maybe it knew a lot

the sea did watch the background

placed into the boat

I sat. it did not rain

for some time. hands bereft.

the palette was still covered

with crimson red and tides of

meridian blue.

the shore was distant

a seek that led me to a find

in your eyes. when was I

to pour your thoughts

into my life? For all that came

from me was the etched paints

and a distant shore.

your eyes seared in my brain

once more, as I finally swim-stroked

all that was in me to be near you

today and forever more.

Did you notice? the light coming

through the door...brushstrokes pulling

the view (together). --Shraddha Patel

Forbidden Reviews

As promised, here are a few additional Forbidden Reviews. This picture is of my mother and me in the DC/VA/MD area.
Thank you Austin MacAuley, UK Team for doing a wonderful job!--Shraddha Patel

Forbidden is a collection of poems on subjects like love, philosophy, self and nature. I found the pieces in this book really resonate. I was captivated and invested in each piece, whether by description of place, intriguing metaphor. This book has over 100 poems in it. This really is a beautiful collection of work. I would definitely recommend reading this book...(Rose Emerson Craig).

Written by author Shraddha Patel, this book is a mesmerizing collection of exquisite pieces. There are a lot of references to other pieces of art and literature in this piece. Along with the flowing descriptions, these poems have a quick short sentence structure that leaves bursts of thoughts for the reader to consider. I really enjoyed this book. I was captivated by the way that they made me think about the subject matter of each particular poem. A must-read for poetry readers (Courtesy of USA Reviewers)

Was at St Patrick's Cathedral This past Week

Fun Fact: St. Patrick's Cathedral hosts a reading dedicated to Dante's Divine Comedy each year around April. I always enjoy going here.

Forbidden Poetry

At Barnes&Noble Maryland August 17th

This was also the first time that I was doing book signings for my poetry book that recently came out, called Forbidden. I spoke to a lot of fantasy fans regarding Alaysia too. I was seated next to another author who had written a book about Francis Scott Key.

"There comes a time where a person must stand up for the rights and laws that inherently make up society no matter which party or group espouses them. The building blocks such as copyright laws, patents, and rule of law are such inherent requirements for the creation of a more just society, and the backbone of entrepreneurship."---Shraddha Patel
